Spring 2023 Workshop Registration Open
In the fall of 2021 and 2022, the Northwest Region of ScotDance USA conducted dance-a-thon fundraisers to support all dancers in the Northwest Region. With some of the funds raised, SHDA is thrilled to partner with the Northwest Region of ScotDance USA to present a spring workshop with our judge, Katie Gardner. Registration is complimentary and open to all Northwest ScotDance USA dancers.
We will be hosting a Pre-Premier group and a Premier group per the schedule provided below.
Pre-Premier
Saturday, April 29, 2023
The Pre-Premier group will focus on technique in the Highland dances
Location: Shorewood High School - 17300 Fremont Ave N, Shoreline, WA 98133
(1 hour) will commence following end competition
There will be a short break for changing and a quick snack
Premier
Sunday, April 30, 2023
The Premier groups will be Championship steps
Location: Seattle Dance Fitness - 1501 N 200th St Suite A, Shoreline, WA 98133
(12:00-1:45pm) 16 & Over
(2:00-3:45pm) 7 & Under 16
Note:
Dancers should dress appropriately per SDUSA guidelines and wear ghillies throughout each class.

2022-2023 SHDA Dates
We are excited to announce some important dates for the Seattle Highland Dance Association 2022-2023 Season:
- Annual General Meeting: Sunday, September 11, 2022 at 3:00 pm - Zoom
- Fall Competition: Saturday, October 15, 2022 - Shorewood High School
- Winter Competition: Saturday, February 4, 2023 - Shorewood High School
- Spring Competition: Saturday, April 29, 2023 - Shorewood High School
April 9th Spring Competition
We are so excited that our Spring competition is this weekend at the North Kirkland Community Center! Please read the reminders below so we can have a great day.
- The competition begins promptly at 1:00pm. Doors will open by 12:30pm.
- Covid protocols have changed since the last competition: NO proof of vaccination/negative test required and NO mandatory masking. If your dancer would still like to dance in a mask, that is allowed. Please be mindful of everyone's different level of comfort regarding masking and distancing while in the building. (please review King County's covid mandates if you have questions https://kingcounty.
gov/depts/health/covid-19.aspx ) - If you are feeling ill, please do not attend the competition. We will work with families/dancers regarding refunds in this event.
- Change rooms will be available; the girls' room will be downstairs and the boys'
- will be in the kitchen area of the multi-purpose room.
- Bring your current Scotdance card; Scotdance rules do not allow for dancing without presenting a physical card this year.
- Covid Waivers will be signed by all adults entering the building. Children will be on a parent/guardian's waiver form.
Winter Competition, 2/26/22
Doors will open at 12:30pm for a start time of 1:00pm with all dancers arriving at 12:30pm (this is different than years past, so please be aware that all dancers will need to be ready for line-up by 1:00pm).
The Competition will begin with the Highland Fling for all classes
The SHDA is pleased to announce Gail Bacon as our competition judge.
Please read the following information to help with navigating the competition day:
- Please arrive in costume; changing rooms will not be available!
- All dancers Must Present a valid, Up-to-Date ScotDance USA Card when checking-in to be able to compete!! Please contact Kiki Bentzen: kikibentzen@comcast.net for further information about renewing your ScotDance USA membership
- Parents/Guardians must purchase admission to competition on-line using JotForm. You will not be able to enter the dance venue without pre-purchased admission! Click on Competition Info to find admission link.
- Masks must be worn by everyone, unless actively competing
- All participants and spectators ages 12+ must have either proof of vaccination or a negative COVID PCR test (at-home tests not accepted) to enter the facility. We will be checking these at the door. We will update if this changes. We understand it may be difficult to acquire a PCR test at this time. Please plan ahead. There will be no exceptions.
- A Covid waiver must be signed by every adult (children are covered under the adult's waiver)
- No food or drink allowed, water bottles only please.
- The windows inside the venue will be kept open in order to allow for proper ventilation. Please plan for the cooler temperatures.
February 26th Competition
We will be holding our Winter Competition on February 26th at the North Kirkland Community Center. Platform schedules will be emailed prior to the competition.
